BCAMP debuts new marketing name in transit shelter ad campaign

As a part of the City of Vancouver’s Transit Shelter Advertising Program for non-profits, BCAMP has again been awarded highly sought-after advertising space at 10 bus shelters around the city August 16 to October 3, 2010.

 The final design incorporates cover images of all member magazines and will also introduce the public to BCAMP’s new marketing name, the Magazine Association of BC, and accompanying wordmark. Download a larger image (6.1 MB PDF) by clicking on the thumbnail below:

Four BCAMP member magazines among National Magazine Award winners

Geist, The Malahat Review, Vancouver magazine and Vancouver Review were among the winners of the 33rd National Magazine Awards, presented on June 4 at the Carlu in Toronto. The four BCAMP member magazines brought home three gold and one silver, as follows (click links to view PDFs of nominated work):

BCAMP member magazines garner 24 National Magazine Award nominations

[This post has been updated] Eight BCAMP member magazines—BCBusiness, EVENT, Geist, The Malahat Review, The Tyee, Vancouver Magazine, Vancouver Review and Western Living—have received 24 nominations for the prestigious National Magazine Awards. The National Magazine Awards Foundation (NMAF) announced the 33rd annual National Magazine Awards nominations at a reception in Montreal on May 4, 2010.

Tracy Stefanucci named 2009 BCAMP Volunteer of the Year

VANCOUVER, BC — The BC Association of Magazine Publishers (BCAMP) has named Tracy Stefanucci, publisher and editor-in-chief of OCW Magazine, the 2009 BCAMP Volunteer of the Year. The award recognizes volunteer achievement by those who provide inspiration for bright up-and-comers and better the magazine industry through their involvement.

Camp BCAMP recap

The tranquil Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre in Parksville was the setting for this year's Camp BCAMP (January 29–31), where 50 magazine professionals stole away for information-packed sessions, networking, brainstorming, and for some, a dip in the spa's mineral pool.

Below is an overview of the weekend's sessions, along with some noteworthy points.
Session 1: BC Arts Council

BCAMP participates in Richmond Public Library’s International Living Room during Winter Games

BCAMP was pleased to participate in the International Living Room at the Brighouse Branch of the Richmond Public Library during the Winter Olympic Games, February 12-28, 2010. BCAMP members donated hundreds of BC magazines to the Living Room, a place where local residents and out-of-town visitors alike could peruse local publications in the comfort of this home-away-from-home.

And the winners are...

June has been quite a month of celebration for several of BCAMP's member publications, with both the National Magazine Awards and Western Magazine Awards held in the past few weeks.
 
Amongst the winners of the 32nd annual National Magazine Awards held on Friday, June 5th at Toronto's Carlu venue were individuals from BCAMP member publications Western Living and Vancouver Magazine:

Anicka Quin named BCAMP Volunteer of the Year

BCAMP congratulates the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award, Anicka Quin. In addition to her busy schedule as managing editor of Western Living and editor of Western Living Condo, Anicka manages to
log many hours as an advisor, mentor, supporter and cheerleader for BC's mercurial magazine industry.

NMA nominees announced

The National Magazine Awards Foundation (NMAF) announced the 32nd annual National Magazine Awards nominations at a ceremony in Montreal on April 21.

The Walrus and L’actualite lead all magazines with 28 nominations each, followed closely by Toronto Life with 27.
Congratulations to the BCAMP nominees: EVENT (4), The Malahat Review (7), PRISM international (1), Vancouver (6) and Western Living (2).
