Background: Rebus Creative is seeking a bright, creative, and dynamic intern for the fall. The company’s services include event management, consulting, publicity services, graphic design, strategic media buying, and tightly focussed fundraising for Vancouver’s arts community. Rebus is best known as the professional team behind The BC Book Prizes, BC’s most prestigious recognition of BC Writers; administering the awards process by receiving submissions and engaging and facilitating the judges; producing the Gala event, and producing the province wide tour. Rebus also produces The Word on the Street festival, Vancouver's annual celebration of literacy and the written word which will run September 28, 29 and 30 this year. We are committed to a healthy vibrant cultural scene in Vancouver, British Columbia, and beyond.

 

Responsibilities: You will have the opportunity to contribute to different projects and try your hand at many varied tasks. The successful applicant will provide clerical and administrative support, including answering telephone queries, maintaining databases and spread sheets, assisting on various projects and at The Word On The Street festival. Gain hands-on experience in many facets of arts administration, marketing, and event production, primarily in the literary arts.

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent organization and time-management skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and database applications
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to take direction, but self-motivated enough to work with minimal supervision as required
  • A willing team player with a sense of humour
  • A demonstrated interest in arts and culture, preferably in the writing and publishing field
